THE ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION ALBERTA-NWT COMMAND www.abnwtlegion.com 181 Kazmir, Andrew Nickolas Andrew was born in Dauphin, Manitoba on October 8, 1917. He moved later to Kamsack, Saskatchewan. Andrew served in the Army duringWorld War Two with the Prince Albert Volunteers. He was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and the War Medal 1939-1945. Andrew lived in Cadomin, Alberta after the war and worked for Mannix Ltd. as a cat skinner. He continued his employment even as his health failed, and he passed away on October 15, 1982. Andrew’s brother Lawrence also served in the Army during World War Two. Kazmir, Lawrence John Lawrence was born in Dauphin, Manitoba in 1920. He served in the Army during World War Two in the Prince Albert Volunteers in the United Kingdom and the Central Mediterranean area. He was awarded the 1939-1945 Star, Italy Star, Defence Medal, and Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp. After being discharged, Lawrence worked in the mines in Luscar, Cadomin, and Mountain Park in Alberta as a shovel operator and crane operator. He worked later in mines in other parts of Alberta, and in British Columbia, Saskatchewan, the Northwest Territories, and Quebec before he retired in 1985. Lawrence was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 124 in Cadomin, Montgomery Legion in Edmonton, and Branch 175, Kingsway, Edmonton. He passed away on September 13, 1988. Lawrence’s brother Andrew also served in the Army during World War Two. Keller, Bryce Jeffrey Bryce was born on May 27, 1979, in Regina, Saskatchewan. He joined the Reserves in 1997 and took a course in Kingston, Ontario before moving to Sherwood Park, Alberta. He joined the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry with the rank of Corporal and was killed in action in Kandahar, Afghanistan on August 3, 2006. He came under extremely heavy enemy fire while trying to allow comrades to attend to and evacuate a critically injured soldier. He died when a rocket-propelled grenade devastated the area, killing Bryce and two other soldiers. Bryce was awarded a posthumous Medal of Military Valour. He was 27 years old.
