He was raised in Grenvan, Saskatchewan and later came to live at Millet, Alberta. He joined the Army during World War Two and served from 1940 to 1945 in the Aleutian Islands, England, and Holland. After his discharge, Robert moved to Port Alberni where he drove a school bus for several years. He passed away in 1977. Harding, Frank Edward Frank was born in Paris, Ontario on May 2, 1887. He enlisted in the Army on January 26, 1916 in Edmonton. He was assigned to the 3rd Platoon A Company, 138th Infantry Battalion, C.E.F. and took basic training at Edmonton and at Sarcee Camp, Calgary. He went to England in August 1916 and transferred to the 47th Battalion in France in November 1916. He saw action at the Somme and was gassed at Courcelette. Frank qualified as a 1st Class Signaler in January 1917 and also trained in map reading, signal work in the field, and the use of a Fuller phone. In April 1917, Frank was a signaler at the Battle of Vimy Ridge where his brother Victor was wounded and later died of his wounds. Frank was awarded the Military Medal in September 1917 and was promoted to Sergeant on April 12, 1918. In September 1918, he was recommended for the Distinguished Conduct Medal. Frank returned to Canada on January 30, 1919 and was discharged on February 28, 1919. He belonged to The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 88, Hardisty. Frank and his brother Russell, who also served in the Army during World War One, farmed north of Lougheed. He passed away on May 24, 1963. Harper, Grant Grant was born in Neepawa, Manitoba on December 30, 1922. He served in the Army during World War Two in Europe. Grant moved to the Butte, Alberta area in 1959 and lived there until he passed away in July 1979. Grant was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 177 in Caroline.
