He served in the Navy during World War Two and the Korean War aboard HMCS Benwick, Prescott, Magnificent, Sussexvale, and Stettler in Canada, Britain, Korea, and on the High Seas. Alvin was awarded the Atlantic Star with France and Germany Clasps, the War Medal 1939-1945, the United Nations Medal Korea, and the Canadian Forces Decoration. His two brothers also served in the Armed Forces. Alvin died in 2002. Farrell, Vern Vern was born in Carstairs, Alberta in 1912. During World War Two, he served in the Army’s Medical Corps in England. He was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, the Defence Medal, and the War Medal 1939-1945. Vern’s two brothers also served in the Armed Forces. Vern died in 1998. Fisher, Herbert S. Herbert was born in Nottingham, England on February 8, 1888. He immigrated to Canada and joined the Northwest Mounted Police. He served with them for four years before becoming a rancher. Herbert enlisted with the 51st Battalion on August 17, 1915. He was sent to England, where he transferred to the 49th Battalion, Loyal Edmonton Regiment and served in France. He was killed in action during the Battle of Cambrai on September 30, 1918, less than two months before the Armistice.
