He enlisted in the Army in 1940 and served with the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry until 1942. He later joined the American Army and served from 1952 until 1965. He was awarded the Korea Medal and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal for Korea. After being discharged in 1963, Tony returned home to Medicine Hat. He passed away on February 3, 1997. Four of his brothers also served during World War Two. Demaris, Arthur William Arthur was born on September 3, 1923, in Medicine Hat, Alberta. He enlisted in the Army in 1939 and served with the Loyal Edmonton Regiment’s 49th Battalion in England, Italy, France, and Germany during World War Two. Arthur was discharged in 1946 and awarded the 1939-1945 Star, France and Germany Star, Italy Star, War Medal 1939-1945, Defence Medal, and Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp. Arthur passed away on July 9, 1984. Four of Arthur’s brothers also served during World War Two. Demaris, Joseph Riel Riel was born on February 18, 1902, in Medicine Hat, Alberta. He enlisted in the Army in 1939 and served during World War Two with the Loyal Edmonton Regiment’s 49th Battalion in England, Italy, France, and Germany. Riel was awarded the 1939-1945 Star, France and Germany Star, Italy Star, War Medal 1939-1945, Defence Medal, and Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp. Riel passed away on April 16, 1965. Four of his brothers also served during World War Two.
