He came to Canada in 1912, arriving in Lougheed, Alberta on April 17 of that year. John enlisted with the 202nd Battalion, Canadian Expeditionary Force on May 15, 1916. He was shipped overseas to serve in England and France where he was wounded. It is believed he returned to Canada in 1918. After the war, John became the co-owner of the butcher shop in Lougheed but sold his share and moved to Hughenden, Alberta to open a shop of his own. He eventually moved to Kelowna, BC where he passed away on January 9, 1984. John’s son Gerald served during World War Two. Cooper, Reuben Clinton Reuben was born in Markdale, Ontario in 1909. He enlisted in the Army in Regina and served with the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps during World War Two in Canada, the United Kingdom, Continental Europe, and the Central Mediterranean area. Reuben was awarded the 1939-1945 Star, Italy Star, France and Germany Star, and CanadianVolunteer Service Medal with Clasp. He passed away in Alberta in 2002. Cordingley, John Allan John was born in Athabasca, Alberta in 1919. He enlisted in the Army on August 7, 1941 and served with the Royal Canadian Dragoons during World War Two in Sicily, Belgium, Holland, and France. He was discharged on January 1, 1946 with the rank of Lance Sergeant. John was Mentioned in Dispatches and awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, Defence Medal, Italy Star, France and Germany Star, and War Medal 1939-1945. He returned to Boyle after the war and farmed. John was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 169 for 49 years until he passed away in 1995.
