He and his brother Alfred came to Alberta from Rapid City, Manitoba in 1905 and settled on a homestead 10 miles south of Hardisty. In 1917, Herbert moved to Lougheed. He was drafted into the 10th Battalion, Canadian Expeditionary Force in Calgary and reported for duty on January 18, 1918, after having his medical in Camrose. At that time, he listed his trade as Teamster. Herbert served in France as a Private during World War One and saw action in September 1918. After the war, he was an Imperial Oil Bulk Dealer, with a service station along Highway 13 in Lougheed. He remained in this business until his retirement. During this time, he was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion. In 1962, Herbert moved to the Sedgewick Lodge and later to Wetaskiwin to be closer to a nephew. He passed away on November 12, 1971. Burdon, Albert Albert was born in the USA. His family moved to Millet, Alberta, and Albert joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1940. He trained in Toronto and was stationed at St. Thomas, Ontario and Pat Bay, British Columbia where he was a sea plane mechanic. Albert returned to Millet after his discharge in 1944. He is now deceased. Butler, Kenneth C. “Ken” Ken was born in England in 1933. After moving to Canada, Ken joined the Army and served in Korea. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 169 in Boyle for eight years, serving for most of that time as Legion Bar Steward. He passed away on June 25, 2004.
